Moss and lichen covering a tiled roof slope

Leicester and Leicestershire

Moss Holds Water. Frost Does the Rest.

Soft washing takes the growth off a roof without a jet ever touching a tile. Low pressure, a biocide that carries on working for months, and the moss weathers away instead of coming off in sheets with half the surface attached to it.

What we do

Everything That Grows on a Roof

Moss, lichen, algae and the gutters they all end up in. Every bit of it from the ground, none of it with a jet.

Two other firms wanted to jet it. Ridgeway talked me out of that in about a minute, did it properly, and the roof has gone back to the colour it was when we bought the house.

FAQ

Before You Book

Including the answers that talk you out of spending money.

No, because there is no pressure involved. A jet wash strips the face off a concrete tile and can drive water up under the laps. Soft washing works chemically at roughly the pressure of a garden hose, so the tile is left exactly as it was, only without the growth on it.

Four to twelve weeks. The biocide kills it at the root on the day, then wind and rain take it off gradually. A roof that looks instantly spotless has usually been jetted, and that is the outcome you do not want.

A standard three bedroom semi in Leicester is 450 to 700 pounds depending on the pitch, the access and how far gone it is. The drone survey is free and you get the footage whether or not you book.

Almost never. Everything is reached from the ground or from a tower, which is most of why soft washing costs less than a roofer quoting for the same slope. If a roof genuinely needs access we say so before quoting rather than after.

Usually not. If the tiles are sound then a coating buys you colour rather than life, and it can trap moisture if it goes on wrong. We will quote for it if you want it, and tell you plainly when we think you should keep the money.
