What we treat

Most of What Hurts Has a Mechanical Cause

Three things walk through the door most weeks. If it is something we should not be treating, we tell you on the first visit and send you to the person who should.

A clinician assessing a patient's neck

Back and neck pain

Desk necks, lifting backs and the stiffness that is worse in the morning. We find what is actually moving badly, treat it hands on, and give you the two exercises that stop it coming back.

A physio assessing a knee

Sports and running injuries

Knees, ankles, hamstrings and the niggle that stops you at mile six. Assessed properly, taped if it helps, and a return plan built around your next event rather than a blanket six weeks off.

A physio guiding a shoulder exercise

Shoulders, hips and knees

Frozen shoulders, hip pain on the stairs, and rehab before and after surgery. Measured at the start so you can see it improving, not just feel it.

How it works

Three Steps and You Know Where You Stand

Nobody should leave a first appointment still wondering what is wrong.

1

Book the assessment

Online or by phone, usually within two working days. Tell us what hurts and how long, and we put you with the physio or chiropractor who sees the most of it.

Advice

Things Worth Knowing About Pain

Written by the people who treat it, not by a marketing department.

Back pain

Why resting a bad back usually makes it last longer

Bed rest was standard advice for decades and the evidence has gone the other way. Gentle movement, the right kind, gets most backs better faster. Here is where to start.

Choosing

Physio or chiropractor, and why it matters less than you think

Both assess, both treat hands on, and the overlap is bigger than the rivalry suggests. What matters is who has seen the most of your problem, and that is what we book you in by.

First visits

Why the first appointment is mostly questions

The cause of most pain is somewhere other than where it hurts. Forty five minutes lets us find it instead of treating the symptom and seeing you again next month.

FAQ

Questions We Get at Reception

Straight answers, including the one that sends you to your GP instead.

No. You can book directly. If anything in your assessment needs a doctor, we write to your GP and tell you why before you leave.

Usually, yes. We are registered with Bupa, AXA, Vitality, Aviva and most other insurers and invoice them directly. Bring your authorisation number to the first visit.

Something you can move in. Shorts for knees and hips, a vest top for shoulders and necks. We have gowns if you forget.

Most problems settle in four to six sessions. We tell you at the first visit what we expect, and if you are not improving by the third, we change the plan rather than repeating it.

Book the assessment and tell us what hurts. We put you with whoever sees the most of your problem, and you can switch at any point.

Some soreness for a day or two is normal after hands on work. Anything sharp, or anything that lasts, call us the same day and we will see you again at no charge.
